Sweethearts in the Snow

When my friend contacted me about shooting pictures for her and her husband, our biggest concern was that I'd be 39 weeks pregnant on the day we planned to shoot. It was one of the many times over the last few weeks I've said, "That's fine, and unless I'm in labor, I'll be there." That's not my favorite phrase--baby needs to come out so I can get back to a firm schedule again!

Anyway, since I wasn't having contractions Saturday morning, I got ready for the shoot when suddenly a new challenge arose: the snow was falling fast and furious. I hadn't shot in snow before, and while Pinterest could provide some good tips for light settings (how fun to shoot in manual again!), nothing quite prepared me for the battle I would have as my autofocus kept trying to hone in one every snowflake that flew by. This shoot was a great life lesson and I'm certainly going to feel much more comfortable in the snow next time. Thank goodness for Alex and Nick for being patient enough for me to figure show shooting out, one picture at a time! And for walking slowly enough for a big pregnant lady to keep up 😊
